Realizing that just about anything in life is only as good as the foundation it is built on, Taylor & Taylor Construction, LP, is proud of the generations of strong foundations it has laid for customers throughout the Pasadena area for more than three decades.
A dedicated and experienced civil construction contractor specializing in concrete, T&T Construction was originally founded in 1969 by C. A. Taylor. In the beginning, the company was a general contracting and construction firm bearing the name of its owner. In 1975, however, when Taylor's son joined on, the company was renamed Taylor & Taylor Construction Company or T&T for short. In addition to the name change, the firm's focus also shifted from general contracting to concrete construction.
Jeff Taylor was proud to work alongside and learn the business from his father, the man he credits as the driving force in getting the company started by using his "innate skill for selling work and completing projects." Even after the elder Taylor retired in 1978 and son Jeff took the helm, C. A. remained active by being a valuable consultant and a steadfast source of experience and common sense. With his wife, Diana, as co-owner, Jeff added his personal talents to the business and enhanced it by concentrating on quality craftsmanship and creating relationships with steady customers.
Despite some very trying and challenging times during the early 1980's when a recession caused the company to take on work outside of their normal service realm - work such as demolition, tree cutting and hauling - T&T Construction weathered the storm and the business actually continued to steadily grow through the 1980s and 1990s. The key, said Jeff, was retaining quality people and developing a reputation for on-time service and attention to detail.
In 1988, Jeff's son, Ryan, became the third generation Taylor to join the firm. He started out as a laborer, learning quickly from the company's immensely experienced concrete tradesmen and moving his way up through the ranks from helper to finisher, to foreman, to job superintendent, to project manager and trusted right hand to his father.
Ryan assumed leadership of the company in 2001 and promptly increased sales and broadened the company's focus to other areas such as underground construction and earthwork. He and his father became full partners in the business in 2005 with Ryan's vision being to make T&T a full service civil contractor. Amanda Taylor has served as the company's office manager since 2000. All believe in keeping the business in the family, continuing to build a positive reputation amongst the customers and maintaining great employees.
"Our mission is to provide superior service, a quality product and excellent workmanship to all our customers," said Jeff Taylor, who also serves as company president. "Concrete is our material of choice because it mirrors our commitment to integrity, longevity and our belief that quality if built from the ground up."
Having grown from doing residential driveways and patios to talking on initial commercial clients such as Minh Foods in Pasadena, the company now specializes in commercial and industrial concrete work or, more specifically, slabs, parking lots, tilt wall building construction and heavy machine foundations.
Today the company employs sixty-five people equipped with every degree of skill, tool, and equipment of the trade, helping them provide the absolute best product and service available to approximately fifty steady clients. The company's footprint is on more than a thousand projects in the Pasadena and Deer Park area and sales have double in the last decade. Annual revenues for the company now exceed more than $11 million.
To complement the concrete work and, more importantly, to reduce the number of subcontractors T&T customers have to manage, the company is committed to taking its clients' projects from "clearing to concrete." Site work preparation services provided include everything from clearing, grubbing, excavation, site grading, storm drainage, detention ponds, pump stations, underground detention systems and soil stabilization to find grading and shaping. The company also stays abreast of all city codes and has decades of experience working with inspectors in the greater Houston area.
"This enables us to provide our customers with what it takes to get their project completed on time," Jeff said. "In addition, to protect our customers, we maintain all necessary workers compensation insurance, general liability insurance, and have bonding available upon request."
Additionally, Jeff says, the company is a licensed storm drainage installer and is ACI certified in foundation construction. All job superintendents are further certified in foundation construction by the American Concrete Institute (ACI), an organization of which the company is a longstanding member. T&T Construction is also a member of both the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) as well as the American Subcontractors Associations (ASA).
T&T is also very active in the communities it serves including membership in the local Chamber of Commerce, St. Jude Hospital and many local political action groups.
"Indeed, we at T&T Construction are dedicated to doing the job right the first time. We have everything we need to complete the job on time and on budget. And we pride ourselves on the amount of repeat business we receive from our customers, always striving to provide punctual attendance, professional quality and competitive pricing." Jeff said. "Call us today to find out how our company's experienced and knowledgeable staff can meet your complete concrete and site work contracting needs."
